Creator and Suffering Savior

JESUS CHRIST-THE WISDOM OF GOD...PRESENT AT THE CREATION

(Gen 1:1 KJV)
In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

(Job 38:4-6 KJV)
Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth?
declare, if thou hast understanding.
{5} Who hath laid the measures thereof, if thou knowest?
or who hath stretched the line upon it?
{6} Whereupon are the foundations thereof fastened? or who laid the corner stone thereof;

(1 Cor 1:24b KJV)
...Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

(Prov 8:4-12 KJV)
Unto you, O men, I call; and my voice is to the sons of man.
{5} O ye simple, understand wisdom: and, ye fools, be ye of an understanding heart.
{6} Hear; for I will speak of excellent things; and the opening of my lips shall be right things.
{7} For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.
{8} All the words of my mouth are in righteousness; there is nothing froward or perverse in them.
{9} They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge.
{10} Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold.
{11} For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it.
{12} I wisdom dwell with prudence, and find out knowledge of witty inventions.

(Prov 8:22-36 KJV)
The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.
{23} I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was.
{24} When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water.
{25} Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth:
{26} While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world.
{27} When he prepared the heavens, I was there:
when he set a compass upon the face of the depth:
{28} When he established the clouds above:
when he strengthened the fountains of the deep:
{29} When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment:
when he appointed the foundations of the earth:
{30} Then I was by him, as one brought up with him:
and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him;
{31} Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.
{32} Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children:
for blessed are they that keep my ways.
{33} Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not.
{34} Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors.
{35} For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.
{36} But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul:
all they that hate me love death.

THE PREINCARNATE CHRIST, HIDING HIS IDENTITY FROM ISRAEL

(Isa 8:13-18 KJV)
Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself;
and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
{14} And he shall be for a sanctuary;
but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offence to both the houses of Israel,
for a gin{Heb=metallic heel trap} and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
{15} And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.
{16} Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.
{17} And I will wait upon the LORD, that hideth his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.
{18} Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me
are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.

THE ANNUNCIATION...FORESHADOWING THE BIRTH OF CHRIST

(Isa 9:6-7 KJV)
For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given:
and the government shall be upon his shoulder:
and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor,
The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.
{7} Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end,
upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom,
to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever.
The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.

THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF CHRIST

(Isa 7:14-16 KJV)
Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign;
Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel{Heb=with us is God}.
{15} Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.
{16} For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good,
the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.

REVEALING OF CHRIST AS THE MESSIAH....FIRST COMING

(Zec 9:9 KJV)
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem:
behold, thy King cometh unto thee: he is just, and having salvation;
lowly, and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.

CHRIST'S IDENTIFICATION AS "THE LORD OF HOSTS"

(Zec 6:12-13 KJV)
And speak unto him, saying, Thus speaketh the LORD of hosts, saying,
Behold the man whose name is The BRANCH;
and he shall grow up out of his place, and he shall build the temple of the LORD:
{13} Even he shall build the temple of the LORD;
and he shall bear the glory, and shall sit and rule upon his throne;
and he shall be a priest upon his throne:
and the counsel of peace shall be between them both.

(Isa 28:29 KJV)
This also cometh forth from the LORD of hosts,
which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.

(1 Sam 17:45 KJV)
Then said David to the Philistine,
Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield:
but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts,
the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

(2 Sam 6:2 KJV)
And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah,
to bring up from thence the ark of God,
whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts
that dwelleth between the cherubims.

(1 Chr 11:9 KJV)
So David waxed greater and greater:
for the LORD of hosts was with him.

(1 Ki 18:15 KJV)
And Elijah said, As the LORD of hosts liveth,
before whom I stand,
I will surely show myself unto him to day.

THE INVITATIONTO WORSHIP THE TRUE GOD & BE SAVED

(Isa 45:20-25 KJV)
Assemble yourselves and come; draw near together, ye that are escaped of the nations:
they have no knowledge that set up the wood of their graven image,
and pray unto a god that cannot save.
{21} Tell ye, and bring them near; yea, let them take counsel together:
who hath declared this from ancient time? who hath told it from that time?
have not I the LORD? and there is no God else beside me;
a just God and a Saviour;
there is none beside me.
{22} Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth:
for I am God, and there is none else.
{23} I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return,
That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
{24} Surely, shall one say, in the LORD have I righteousness and strength:
even to him shall men come; and all that are incensed against him shall be ashamed.
{25} In the LORD shall all the seed of Israel be justified,
and shall glory.

PREDICTION OF THE CRUCIFIXION..(NOTE 2 REFERENCES TO "NAILS")

(Isa 22:20-25 KJV)
And it shall come to pass in that day, that I will call my servant Eliakim{Heb=the God of Raising}
the son of Hilkiah{Heb=inheritance of God}:
{21} And I will clothe him with thy robe, and strengthen him with thy girdle,
and I will commit thy government into his hand:
and he shall be a father to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to the house of Judah.
{22} And the key of the house of David will I lay upon his shoulder;
so he shall open, and none shall shut; and he shall shut, and none shall open.
{23} And I will fasten him as a nail in a sure place;
and he shall be for a glorious throne to his father's house.
{24} And they shall hang upon him all the glory of his father's house,
the offspring and the issue, all vessels of small quantity, from the vessels of cups, even to all the vessels of flagons.
{25} In that day, saith the LORD of hosts, shall the nail that is fastened in the sure place be removed,
and be cut down, and fall; and the burden that was upon it shall be cut off:
for the LORD hath spoken it.

THE PROPHECY ABOUT THE CRUCIFIXION

(Isa 53:1-12 KJV)
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
(2) For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant,and as a root out of a dry ground:
he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.
(3) He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief:
and we hid as it were our faces from him;
he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
(4) Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows:
yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
(5) But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
(6) All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.
(7) He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:
he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter,
and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
(8) He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation?
for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken.
(9) And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death;
because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth.
(10) Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief:
when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin,
he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days,
and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.
(11) He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied:
by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many;
for he shall bear their iniquities.
(12) Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong;
because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors;
and he bare the sin of many,
and made intercession for the transgressors.

PROPHECY DESCRIBING THE CRUCIFIXION OF CHRIST

(Psa 22 KJV)
To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David.
My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
{2} O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not;
and in the night season, and am not silent.
{3} But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.
{4} Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them.
{5} They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded.
{6} But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
{7} All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying,
{8} He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him.
{9} But thou art he that took me out of the womb:
thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother's breasts.
{10} I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother's belly.
{11} Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help.
{12} Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round.
{13} They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion.
{14} I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint:
my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels.
{15} My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws;
and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
{16} For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have enclosed me:
they pierced my hands and my feet. {17} I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
{18} They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
{19} But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
{20} Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
{21} Save me from the lion's mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
{22} I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
{23} Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
{24} For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted;
neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
{25} My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
{26} The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
{27} All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD:
and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
{28} For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.
{29} All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship:
all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
{30} A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
{31} They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

THE RESURRECTION OF CHRIST

(Psa 49:12-15 KJV)
Nevertheless man being in honour abideth not: he is like the beasts that perish.
{13} This their way is their folly: yet their posterity approve their sayings. Selah.
{14} Like sheep they are laid in the grave;
death shall feed on them; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning;
and their beauty shall consume in the grave from their dwelling.
{15} But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave:
for he shall receive me. Selah.

(Job 19:25-27 KJV)
For I know that my redeemer liveth,
and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:
{26} And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God:
{27} Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold, and not another; t
hough my reins be consumed within me.

(Psa 31:4-24 KJV)
Pull me out of the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.
{5} Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.
{6} I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.
{7} I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble;
thou hast known my soul in adversities; {8} And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy:
thou hast set my feet in a large room.
{9} Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble:
mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.
{10} For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing:
my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.
{11} I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours,
and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.
{12} I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel.
{13} For I have heard the slander of many:
fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
{14} But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
{15} My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
{16} Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies' sake.
{17} Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee:
let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
{18} Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
{19} Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee;
which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!
{20} Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man:
thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
{21} Blessed be the LORD: for he hath showed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city.
{22} For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes:
nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.
{23} O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful,
and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.
{24} Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart,
all ye that hope in the LORD.
